Porcelain Tea Sets

🫖 Why Choose Fine Porcelain for Tea?

Porcelain has long been appreciated for brewing and serving tea thanks to its smooth, non-porous glazed surface. It does not readily absorb flavours or odours, allowing you to enjoy the natural aroma and taste of your favourite tea.

Quality porcelain cups and teapots also help retain the warmth of freshly brewed tea, especially when preheated before serving. Their durable glaze is easy to clean and resistant to staining, making porcelain tea sets a practical choice for everyday use.

🎨 Made-to-Order Porcelain Tea Sets

We do not keep large stocks of pre-decorated porcelain. Every tea set is decorated and fired in our family workshop only after your order is confirmed.

Our made-to-order approach allows you to combine your preferred porcelain shape, decorative pattern and finish:

• 🫖 Choice of Porcelain Shape: Choose from gently scalloped classic shapes (such as Ofelia, Verona, Opera, Marie Louise or Rokoko) and sleek, modern silhouettes (such as Yvonne or Tom).

• 🖌️ Choice of Decorative Pattern: If you see a motif in our shop that is not pictured directly on a tea set, we can apply that pattern to your chosen porcelain shape upon request.

• 🎨 Custom Rim Options: Depending on the pattern, we can modify rim colours, add a hand-painted gold or platinum line, or omit border lines entirely.

• ✍️ Personalisation: Customise your set with family monograms, wedding dates or personal inscriptions applied in genuine gold or platinum.

🫖 What Does a Standard Porcelain Tea Set Include?

Our traditional porcelain tea sets include matching pieces for enjoying tea at home or hosting guests. The standard 6-person tea set typically includes:

• Teapot: A matching porcelain teapot with a lid for brewing and serving tea.

• Six Tea Cups & Saucers: Six matching tea cups with individual saucers for a coordinated table setting.

• Sugar Bowl: A matching vessel with a lid for serving sugar or sugar cubes.

• Milk Jug: Designed for serving milk or cream alongside your tea.

A porcelain teapot is particularly well suited to preparing loose-leaf tea. Its glazed interior does not readily retain flavours from previous infusions, allowing you to enjoy different varieties of black, green or herbal tea without unwanted flavour transfer.

If you require a custom set configuration for a different number of people (such as for two, four, eight or twelve guests), please contact us and we will gladly prepare a tailored quotation.

🫖 Tea Sets vs Coffee Sets: What Is the Difference?

While tea and coffee sets may appear similar at first glance, their shapes traditionally differ to suit the characteristics of each beverage:

• Tea Sets: Traditionally feature wider, more open cups, often paired with a rounded teapot. These shapes are particularly well suited to appreciating the aroma and colour of tea.

• Coffee Sets: Traditionally feature smaller, relatively narrow cups, often accompanied by a tall coffee pot. Depending on the porcelain shape, different cup sizes may be available for espresso, cappuccino or filter coffee. If you prefer a traditional coffee service, explore our Porcelain Coffee Sets.

🛒 Individual Replacement Pieces (Build Your Own Set)

In daily life, accidents happen. Alongside complete tea sets, we offer individual cups, saucers, sugar bowls, milk jugs and replacement teapot lids.

As long as the porcelain shape remains in production, individual pieces can be ordered separately to replace damaged items or expand your set.

🏡 Choosing the Right Tea Set for Your Home

To ensure your new tea service complements your living space, consider matching the porcelain shape and pattern to your home style:

• For Rustic & Country Kitchens: Select traditional shapes such as Verona or Ofelia, decorated with romantic roses, small floral sprays or classic cottage motifs.

• For Country Houses & Cottages: Natural woodland motifs, berry patterns or fruit designs on scalloped porcelain bring a warm, rustic charm to the table.

• For Contemporary Interiors: Opt for clean, geometric shapes like Yvonne or Tom, paired with subtle lines or minimalist decorations.

• For Formal Dining Rooms & Celebrations: Elegant shapes like Opera or Marie Louise with hand-painted gold or platinum rims add a sophisticated touch to festive gatherings.

⚙️ Dishwasher Safety & On-Glaze Decoration

Our porcelain decorations without precious metal accents are applied using traditional screen-printing techniques and fired at temperatures of approximately 800–820 °C. This on-glaze decoration process produces durable patterns suitable for everyday use. Our porcelain sets without metallic embellishments are dishwasher-safe and microwave-safe.

For special occasions, we also offer hand-decorated porcelain featuring genuine gold or platinum borders. To preserve their metallic lustre, these pieces should be washed gently by hand and must not be used in a microwave.

🎁 A Meaningful & Lasting Gift

A hand-decorated porcelain tea set brings daily enjoyment and a sense of calm to tea time. It is a traditional choice for wedding presents, milestone anniversaries or housewarming gifts. Our made-to-order decoration allows you to give a personalised porcelain set that can be treasured for generations.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How do I order a tea set in a pattern pictured on a different product?

Order the tea set in your preferred porcelain shape under any available pattern, and specify your requested pattern in the notes field during checkout. Our decorators will decorate the set according to your exact instructions.

Can I purchase replacement single pieces if a cup or lid breaks?

Yes. As long as the base porcelain shape remains in production, we offer individual cups, saucers, milk jugs, sugar bowls and replacement teapot lids separately to replace damaged items or expand your set.

Are porcelain tea sets dishwasher and microwave safe?

Patterns decorated without precious metals (gold or platinum) are dishwasher-safe and microwave-safe. For sets decorated with hand-applied gold or platinum, we recommend gentle hand washing with a soft sponge.

Can I order a tea set for a different number of people than six?

Yes. We can prepare customised tea sets for two, four, eight or twelve people. Please contact us if you need a different configuration.
